Winstars Gymnastics was excited to participate in the Canadian Gymnastics Week which took place February 12-18, 2017.
This is a great opportunity to show call Canadians and more importantly, Windsorites, just what the sport of gymnastics is all about. In essence, gymnastics starts with dominant movement patterns (DMP) which then equate to the potential skills learned throughout the life of a gymnast. These dominant movement patterns allow the gymnast to learn the basic fundamentals of gymnastics by progressing through various skills progressions which will eventually lead to the development of pure gymnastics skills.
At Winstars Gymnastics, "Sports start right here. Be a part of it!" is our tag line which helps explain how the sport of gymnastics will and can benefit ALL other sports that a child may participate in. A child may ultimately choose a sport such as soccer after sometime in gymnastics. But, after being involved in gymnastics we can tell you this soccer player is going to have more agility and body awareness than your average soccer player.
During each day of #CdnGymWeek, we focussed on these DMP's. Have a look at the ways our happy gymnasts learned how to master these DMP's.
